Dealership loyalty?? (kind of long read)
Anybody on here work for a dealership? Particularly in sales? I am curious if there is any value whatsoever in customer loyalty?
I went to my Nissan dealership to look into a 2002 Pathfinder they had. The guy told me that they price match to a degree and that they will never miss a sure sale based on price. BS! This Pathfinder is tagged at 11,999. Listed elsewhere for 10,999. I told them I found another one with comparable miles and some upgrade options for 8995.00 but I would buy theirs that day for 9,000 even plus all the tack ons like DOC fees, title, registration, all that BS. They said no, 9,900.00 is the lowest they can go. Ok, 900.00 is no real big deal but they were giving me the typical BS sales techniques which PISS me off.
I got the "Ok, Ill have to go run it by my manager" and they "Well, we have a deposit on it now but the guys credit hasnt gone through yet" and they even tried the "well, our total investment into this truck makes 9,900.00 an even wash for us, we cant take less. BS!! If they bought it for 10K, it would NOT be selling for 10K from there.
So, since they pissed me off, I told them I have bought 2 cars from you guys, this would be my 3rd and the SER Altima they are looking for for me would be the 4th so if 900.00 was enough for them to lose both of the new sales and lose a repeat customer to boot, then so be it 9K is my bottom line. Its no longer a matter of 900.00...its a matter of how much they actually value a repeat, current, and future customer.
So far, it seems they do not...which is a shame.
